Been listening to a lot of Ray Charles lately, and loving an original fusion I don't recognize in anything new. I know that's a broadly painted stroke from a musical buffon. Regardless, loving these tunes - and thinking more about searching back into my Mother's Mo-town collection. My face hurts...constant state of smiles right now. Life is great, Tech Cominco is going to donate a whole ten minutes of my day tommorrow so that the United Way can thank the HVC employees for our charitable contributions (Weyhauser beat us again I belive) with a breakfast in the morning. All the good greasy fixins onto a plate, ate standing up and onto the buses ASAP to get that ore into production. Sounds like I'm complaining, but I'm not. Nothing can ruin the vibe I got going on right now. There are new jobs on the board that have got my name all over em, and some interesting changes higher up the food chain that will (eventually) have some affect on the hierarchy of management. Today was one of the better days I've had at work in ages...Cool! Wait, they did claim to cancel our flu shots because of a vaccine shortage, so I suppose that's something to bitch about. Be willing to bet that the bloody bosses have had their needles. LOL By the way, how many of you would get the shot given the opportunity through work? I'm coming up on my fifth year, have always got the shot, and never suffered the flu. Especially interested in the two Doc's take on this...especially with all the recent headlines

Most of my waking hours of the last three days were spent in the company of someone new. And not that grumpy, brooding voice in my head! Oh, that's just the MP3 playing Dennis Miller jokes! Anyway, I'm living proof that all good things come to those that wait. Occasionaly those things happen to be tall, lithe, clever and very adorable. Expressive eyes that make me melt. Sometimes they're very Scandanavian (with a touch of the Scot in her!)and they enjoy all the same films and pass the Daphne Odjig litmus test. Unlike others I've dated recently, this gal makes me thrilled to see ye olde phone ring. Oh yeah, she smells amazing too...

Craig could be officially introduced as the new Bond, James Bond on Friday at a press conferece scheduled by franchise masterminds Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson.

Per the latest spate of reports, Craig recently met with Broccoli about donning the tuxedo and was also spotted in London bookstores asking about a first edition of author Ian Fleming's first Bond caper, 1953's Casino Royale, upon which the next 007 movie is based.

At last month's Toronto Film Festival, he said Casino Royale will take Bond back to basics, eschewing spectacular special effects for a more character-driven, plot-oriented spy thriller, in the vein of the early Sean Connery films.

"We're trying to reinvent Bond. He's 28," Haggis told reporters. "It's very difficult to think of new ways of blowing things up. It's the journey that's the thing--finding a new journey for the character."

Hiya Kids - want to touch on one of Ron's recent posts here. Forget Liz Phair, even her interviews suck now, and the new album sounds truly awful. Getting lots of play on Sirius, and I find myself changing channels often to avoid listening to Liz sounding like Avril. For a gal fix - check out Fiona Apple's latest. Really good stuff, one of my fav albums of the year (before some of you say it - I ain't heard tons!) Anyway, I reccommend it, and may even rank it higher than both of the Kathleen Edwards albums I treasure so.

I'm hoping (against all odds) to get a new posting running one of the above shovels at the mine. There appears to be the opportunity for movement to go through the roof this coming year, but I need a change stat. I'm becoming increasingly fed up with having to throw my mind's switch into neutral every time I board my truck. I keep reminding myself that it's only for four days, and that it affords a fine lifestlye. That said, change is a good thing - and I'd be happy changing jobs every two years in this industry. Word around the campfire is that we're hiring 80-100 employees within a year to keep up with the aging workforce who are set to retire. Good thing, because another year or two on a truck whould really have me wondering how some guys have managed to do the same thing for 20+ yrs!?!? Which brings me to the question: are the majority of us working to maintain a lifestlye, or are we working to challenge ourselves?

Howdy kiddos, Started reading a pulp title today that the Doc recommended to me ages ago. The Bourne Identity (thus far - 150 pgs) paints a much crueler and more tormented
character than we see on the screen. Which gets me to my point; the Jason Bourne character rocks, he's filling the Bond lull we all currently suffer. As I understand it, there are three titles to this series, could a clever screenwriter come up with other scripts to keep this franchise going? Car chases haven't been this good since Bullit and Ronin, and the fight scenes are in a category of cruely frightening realism I've never seen. Can't wait to finish the book and review the film again. Certainly won't be time wasted.

More retail woes...bought a air purifier a while back when the Doc was visiting. Though it was a sweet deal; however - I've learned that buying a 'floor model' blows big time. Loved the subtle lights on this unit, and it's relaxing hum. Wanting to take care of this machine, I thought I'd check on the three month Heppa filter. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't all clogged with Bailey fur. And what do I find? No Fucking Filter! Off to Future Shop, no filters for sale - just return it for another unit they say. Go home, bring said piece of shit back; low and behold - nothing else in stock. They're willing to 'keep me happy' by selling me this years model (uh, exactly the same as last years (the on I had) model for 'just $60 more. Took my cash and got the hell out of there before contemplating calling in the lads from the Revolution to unleash some fury on that joint. Or maybe it was my fault for buying the fucking demo???

Funny thing happened today at the video store. Old news, but rented an original and clever film that came out of Hollywood. What a refreshing treat 'Crash' was. A beautifully intertwined story that made you think about how we see and are seen by our neighbors. Don't walk - run to rent this film. Moviemaking at a level that LaLaLand rarely releases. Don Cheadle is a bonafide star, and (love this name) Paul Haggis wrote one hell of a script.

Well, never thought they could fuck me again, but the HBC managed to do it yet. As many of you know I worked for the Bay back in the day when I was working two jobs to make ends meet. Well, gotta tell ya I avoid the place like the plague now. Regardless, shopping with JFu today we wandered into hell where I found a pair of pants to my liking. Stood in line for too long, watching a couple of foolish Steelworkers fuck the dog. All of a sudden I'm being becconed to another till. I'm truly entranced watching the salesperson go through the same routine I did (on the same equipment) so many years ago. Amazed at everthing, the same receipt bags, same clear plastic boxes beside the till, same shitty add on crap at the till that all the kids love, same offer of a Bay card application; I take my pants (In the same typ of bag) and scurry out trying to explain to my companion my flashback. Getting home later that afternoon, I'm ready for another look at my sweet 40% off purchase. And what do you know? The fucking dye tag is still attatched. Thus, another trip to the land of the incompetent. Think I'll have a stiff drink before returning this time.

Alrighty then, here we go - sorry folks, had forgotten the ever helpful Mr. Fulton had created this wee blog for me, even though I've been surfing by it in my bookmarked section for months. A dissapointing start for Mr. Weir at the Open today as he's six strokes behind the leaders, looks as though he mad up some room in the afternoon however.
