They Tazered the Head-Case!!! Beautiful!!!!

MIAMI BEACH -- Goalie Ed Belfour's future with the Panthers was in doubt before Monday. Now there's more to consider about whether to re-sign him.

Belfour was arrested at a South Beach bar early Monday and charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest without violence after a scuffle with an officer, Miami Beach police said. Also, teammate Ville Peltonen was charged with criminal mischief in a separate incident.

According to police reports, Belfour and Peltonen were at Nikki Beach, 1 Ocean Drive, around 1:10 a.m., when security guards repeatedly asked Belfour to leave. Belfour, 41, refused, and after a friend tried to pull him away, Belfour walked toward an officer "in a fighting stance" and pushed him, police said.

Police said that while the officer tried to arrest him, Belfour grabbed the officer's shirt and fell forward onto the ground, kicking and putting both hands under his stomach so he couldn't be handcuffed behind his back. Police said Belfour, who was then shocked with a stun gun, had slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and breath that smelled very strongly of alcohol.

About 15 minutes before Belfour's arrest, Peltonen, 33, started breaking a metal pole on the front passenger side of a fire-rescue truck parked in the area while smiling at officers on the scene, police said.

Belfour, who had scratches on both knees, and Peltonen were booked at Miami-Dade County Jail, police said.
