The train wreck continues:

Sweet girl! Wonder if the punches actually connected? Don't think it would hurt much, she looks like she's down to about a hundo.

UH - this is apparently the Kyle Wellwood dude the Nucks just claimed off of waivers. A few notes about this picture:

His hands (and armpits) are soft: he's covered his crutches in foam. The hands part may be good. Or he's just soft like a little girl.

The table isn't littered with beer cans. Also good.

He looks a little chubby for an NhLer, which brings to mind all the complaints about his conditioning - time will tell.

He chose a BLACK cast to wear for the July sunshine! And you thought hockey players are dumb!? Oh yeah - that is kinda dumb.

Eliza Cuthbert is not canoodling with him in a bikini. He must be the one NHLer she hasn't got her claws int yet. Bless that hockey loving hottie!

Wow. Wow. Wow. Can't say enough about this book. I read an awful lot, but this novel really built up as I read along, and had me looking forward to my next session with it. Which happened exactly twice! I actually dreamed about a kitchen described within last night. I'm not about to try and voice just how much I enjoyed this book. I'm not even going to describe it's plot or characters to you. This book makes me feel greedy, I want to enjoy it solely. I don't want snotty reviews coming back my way - though that seems impossible. That all said, I'm suggesting that you all find your own copies. Erin, that may or may not include you. I'm thinking about hiding this copy and deeming it my own. Wow. Wow. Wow.

Apparently we've claimed Wellwood off of waivers and he has a broken foot! This better be a two way contract, because he sounds like the Glass Man from 'Amelie.'

I'm a little worried about the Nucks picking up a guy who's as excited about bearing weight on a leg as I am! Welcome to the third/fourth line lad. Here's hoping this acquisition makes the management in TO look as inept as they have in the past.

“I broke my (right) foot four weeks ago and it’s been healing really well and all the (tests) and x-rays have been great and I’m going to be able to walk on it really soon,” Wellwood told the Vancouver media during a conference call from his off-season home in Windsor, Ontario. “And as far as my groin, it’s been feeling a lot better and from the rehab perspective I think that I’m over the hump.”

Next up: Demitra.

John Hiatt - Have A Little Faith

Oh wait, I think this is the album I may or not have stolen from Geo. Or did I give it back? Hmmm.

In rebuttal to Erin's blog. This entire album is incredible by the way. Especially Geo's copy!

'Not now I'm workin...'

Classic beyond Classical realms. Beyond brilliant. Beyond Funny.

JFu and DRo nearly wet themselves when they first saw this - that old fella is alright in my books.

Oh man, the memories! Here is a compilation of the best and worst that was Ron Hextall back in his playing days. It's awful long - but the ending (in it's mustachioed glory) is tremendous. He was the fiercest (maybe craziest) competitor I ever saw. I saw him once at the Pacific Coliseum. He had the fastest glove I've ever seen. I had a pet rabbit in high school named 'Hexxy.' I painted his name and a set of pads on his cage. I loved him. I still have a Hextall Vic stick in the basement. Hockey seems kinda boring now without such characters. And lordy - him beating on Felix Potvin (Rrrrooowwwww) is some good stuff.

Ferocious attack kitten is available for adoption to any home willing to accept him.

This destructive kitty has been trained as a proud warrior and will fiercely defend your house, even against you. Well-trained since 10-weeks of age to attack anything in his presence, he will protect your family from evil things, including the following:

* insects
* other trained attack kittens
* babies
* toilet paper
* anything under a blanket
* unwanted house guests
* paper bags
* floor rugs
* Chuck Norris
* Feet.

Great with children (assuming you don’t like the children). Probably best used for professional catfighting. He is housebroken, but only because he wants to be. This attack cat has trained himself to seek out his food anywhere you hide it and rip the bag open to feed himself, great for those who travel extensively. Also trained to drink water out of toilet bowls and dishwater from items in the sink. Knows how to open some doors. He will find you wherever you hide.

Neutered (trust me, you wont want to him to procreate). Has not been declawed, but you'll figure that out really fast.

Understands and responds to a variety of vulgar and profane verbal commands. Has a very soft and furry belly, like a teddy bear - however he will bite your face if you try to touch it.

Willing to accept trades. Potential adopters must have experience with trained attack-kittens... please be prepared to show scars.

For the love of God, someone please take this thing out of my house.

A further albino critter for my blog. This fledgling albino crow was spotted in East Vancouver recently. According to an old Indian legend - when the rare white crow appears, the price of fuel soars like a bird.

Tiger is apparently done for the season - he requires season ending ACL surgery. That said, he played in six tournaments - won four, and finished second in the Masters. He is a machine, and he will come back. I pray to God he'll come back. Jack's records ought be shattered by a man who draws the masses to the game. Good luck to both Tiger AND the NHL! Tiger will be fine, I'll wait until after Friday's draft to comment on the current version of the NHL. That said, the league would look way better with Ovechkin out of Washington. Preferably he might be in Vancouver. LOL.

Amy Winehouse -You Know I'm No Good

Jon and I had a chat about Ms. Winehouse on the way back from Vancouver: we concluded that this track is SO TOTALLY BOND! It was played back to back, and I think it's amazing. Sad to see the track the girl is heading down.

1 British pound = 1.98462124 Canadian dollars

And we though we have it tough! I noticed the amount hybrid cars cruising the streets of Vancouver on my latest trip - and wonder how worried the oil companies are. I think the switch to hybrids will be slow and steady, but I think those who switch ain't coming back. The times, they are indeed a-changing.

Oh my god - 'The Yeti that poops gold!' Classic shit (pun intended.) See ya peeps in Lotus Land tomorrow. Gonna punch some beavers in the face..

Apparently Tiger Can back pedal too:

When Woods was asked today about the comical furor that’s built over his hockey dismissal, he weakly backtracked. You would have thought the greatest golfer in the world was channeling Bill Clinton in his prime.

“Oh yeah, I’ve gotten a lot of grief over that,” Woods said. “I love the sport. I love watching it, but I don’t like watching it on TV. In person, it’s absolutely incredible, what they’re able to do. TV doesn’t do justice to that. But then a lot of sports are the same way.

“… It is what it is. I said what I said and I was trying to be funny about it, but people didn’t perceive it that way.”

'It is what it is?' Ok - now Tiger Woods is quoting Todd Bertuzzi? Odd world this...

Hasek Flips Gaborik

And there is this classic Hasek moment - what a play! He got to the puck first, this never should have been called a penalty. The Yankee announcers are classic, I'm sure they'll miss Dom as much as I will. He'll be in the Hall faster than you can fall on your back and wave your limbs about.

Good Bye (again) to one of the best:

The Dominator retires again - loved his interviews, with his horrible English and that thick ass Czech accent. He was one of a kind, we'll never see another goaltender who flops about like fish out of water.

And Geo is afraid of tents! Sorry, this is the only image I could find with a hot girl and a tent!

So you're not into camping, seems the Mood is far more dangerous:

PORT MOODY (NEWS1130) - A Coquitlam man is dead after being hit by car in Port Moody.

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s from New Westminster, struck the 73-year-old victim, sending him roughly 40 to 60 feet down the road.

The accident happened at St. John's Street west of Moody Street at 1 a.m.

Sgt. Phil Reid with Port Moody police says investigators are trying to figure out how fast the driver was going.

"We're still on the scene and the road will be closed for several hours. And that's certainly what they're attempting to do is to determine speed."

Reid says if anyone has any information or saw anything to please call Port Moody police immediately.

The victim's name has yet to be released.

Just wanted to post a few wee words about how life amazes you with the simplicity of it all. Dad an Rory made it out to a local lake today for a spot of fishing. Dad hasn't been on a lake in years, yet is forever threatening. Cudos to the kid for convincing Dad back into a boat. They experienced snow, rain and hail apparently - but managed five trout. Rory gave me the heads up as to what was coming home for dinner, and I set about preparing a simple spread to accompany the fish. Fresh Chips (in fresh oil), a steamed carrot and grilled red pepper jobbie, and of course - the fish. Bathed in buttermilk - hucked through seasoned flour and into my (simple!) oiled french pan. We sat down and talked. we sat down and ate. We sat down and enjoyed! It got me thinking about the simplicity of it all. I recently had a great meal with cherished friends that was little more than good coldcuts and cheese paired with wonderful wine. It's all about making memories in the kitchen, enjoying what the seasons bring you, and plating up your creation with those you care about.

Negotiations to keep the Hockey Night in Canada theme song have collapsed, meaning the program is now in search of another anthem, CBC News has learned.

Copyright Music & Visuals, the Toronto agency representing the song's composer, owner and administrator Dolores Claman said on Friday that the deal had fallen through.

K - everyone knows something about this story at this point it seems. I have only one question however: What exactly does Ms. Claman now plan to do with the rights? I don't think anyone will be lining up to pay her $500 every time the song is used publicly. I've heard that the MotherCorp spends more annually on the HNIC tune than the NFL spends on the theme for Monday Night Football. It blows that we're losing a bit of Canadian history; I wonder however, if this comes down to pure greed or thriftiness?

A rather fun read, very long mind you. Nearing a thousand pages, this is an investment in time and eye strength. I'll miss it now that I'm finally finished. A great story that follows a handful of characters in medieval England who struggle to raise a great cathedral; all the while battling the church, the state and themselves. The idea of building a cathedral may seem a bit dry for the subject of a novel, but Follett wraps so many duels, battles and murders around the event, not to mention a colossal amount of political intrigue, that the book keeps ya wanting more. I'd recommend it - it would be a great travel read; especially if holidaying in Europe.

Never thought I'd say this - but fuck off Tiger!

DETROIT — The PGA Championship at Oakland Hills, Mich., is two months away, but Tiger Woods took the first unofficial shot of the tournament Monday when he teed off on Hockeytown.

During a news conference at Oakland Hills Country Club, where Woods appeared via satellite, the two-time defending champion was asked whether he was rooting for the Red Wings or the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals Monday night at Joe Louis Arena.

Woods chuckled at the question. Then he let 'er rip.

"I don't really care," he said with an impish smile. "It's all about the Dodgers. I don't think anyone really watches hockey anymore."

Luc Bourdon 1987-2008

A few things struck me while watching this compilation. I'd forgotten about his sweet ass last goal that was shot so hard it stuck in the net! I remember hooting and hollering which led Bailey to attack the cat. She's odd that way! Also, he was a powerful skater, with a beautiful stride. He was also the Nucks blue chip tradable prospect. Most imporantly - he was 21 fucking years old, had won two golds for Canada, was an NHLer and rode a god damned motorcycle for a few weeks. What a waste. Love the smile at the end though, RIP lad.

I'm hooked...

Man alive, Gordon is one complete psycho!
